The Topian NEOM project in Oxagon and Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, features state-of-the-art fully-closed greenhouse facilities designed for large scale research & year-round production of high quality, pesticide free vegetables spanning together over 100.000 m2. These greenhouses are specifically engineered to overcome the challenges posed by the region’s extreme climate, ensuring consistent crop quality and sustainability.
Utilizing advanced climate control, automation, and sustainable technologies, Van der Hoeven delivered fully integrated systems that optimized growing conditions through precise monitoring of temperature, humidity, and CO2 levels. Our collaboration with leading technology partners ensured energy-efficient solutions adapted to the unique environment of NEOM.
Innovative water management plays a key role in these facilities, with systems designed to capture and reuse condensate and minimize water consumption, a critical factor in the arid desert climate. The closed-loop irrigation systems further enhance sustainability and resource efficiency.
These facilities contribute significantly to strengthening local food production capabilities, supporting NEOM’s goal to create a self-sufficient and resilient agricultural sector. NEOM is a futuristic megaproject launched by Saudi Arabia to redefine urban living through sustainability, technology and innovation. As part of this initiative, Topian plays a key role in transforming the way food is produced and consumed.
Van der Hoeven is honored to be part of this visionary project, helping to shape the future of sustainable farming in Saudi Arabia.
