Sustainable innovation for a changing climate

Turning ideas into solutions

Challenging and innovative projects

We’re not just adapting to climate challenges, we’re redefining what’s possible.

We design, build and operate high-tech horticultural greenhouses that minimize environmental impact while maximizing efficiency and productivity.

Our vision on sustainability

For us, sustainability means designing greenhouse systems that:

  • Reduce carbon emissions through energy-efficient technologies

  • Optimize water usage with advanced recirculation and purification systems

  • Support circularity by integrating urban waste streams into inputs for sustainable food production.

  • Empower growers to produce more with less, responsibly and resiliently

We believe sustainable horticulture is the key to feeding future generations while preserving our planet.

Optimal solution for each project

True impact begins with insight.
Van der Hoeven conducts in-depth feasibility studies to ensure every project is both viable and sustainable.

Location Based Analysis (LBA)

A well-designed greenhouse makes use of its environment to create the optimal indoor growing conditions while minimizing the use of resources.
In a Location Based Analysis (LBA), we evaluate the effects of complex strategic design decisions in relation to Crop, Climate, Resource use and Profit.

Van der Hoeven greenhouses are designed using our proprietary model based design system. The effect of individual design decisions is evaluated long before the greenhouse is in operation. This way we can ensure each greenhouse performs as promised and create an optimal indoor climate for your crop to thrive while using a minimal amount of resources.

Life Cycle Analysis (LCA)

Sustainable food production is no longer a choice, it’s a necessity. Our experts evaluate the environmental footprint of your greenhouse from start to finish, from raw material extraction to end-of-life disposal, to make informed, responsible decisions.

Our approach includes:

Location Based Analysis (LBA) to optimize design based on site-specific conditions

  • Detailed Feasibility Studies to ensure long-term performance and ROI

  • Full Life Cycle analysis (LCA) to evaluate environmental impact over the project lifetime

  • Actionable insights to support strategic decisions for investors and stakeholders

From delivery to ongoing optimization

Our commitment doesn’t end at handover. Van der Hoeven’s dedicated R&D team, including experienced Sustainability Managers and skilled Data Specialists, works closely with clients to keep greenhouse operations optimized. Using real-time performance data and system insights, we continuously fine-tune conditions to reduce environmental impact, enhance efficiency and maximize long-term returns.

Climate control solutions for hot and humid climates

Our patented technologies make climate control smarter and more efficient, particularly in tropical and subtropical zones.

Key innovations

  • Patented Night-Cooling system to reduce energy use

  • ModulAIR semi-closed greenhouse concept for improved efficiency and flexibility
