Project description
Van der Hoeven realised De Hybride Phase 2 as part of Rijk Zwaan’s ongoing expansion of its global breeding and research infrastructure. The 2.5-hectare facility strengthens capacity for the development of tomato, sweet pepper, and aubergine varieties, supporting both selection workflows and advanced pre-breeding research.
The technical complexity of the project lay in the diverse research requirements: highly controlled light-tight compartments and strict specifications for the isolation area, all tailored to high-precision research. Through close collaboration with partners and Rijk Zwaan, the facility was engineered to provide optimal environmental control, operational flexibility, and long-term scalability.
