This state-of-the-art facility, formerly known as Better Future Farms, is a showcase for Controlled Environmental Agriculture (CEA), fully automated from seeding to packaging. Every stage, seeding, transplanting, harvesting, climate control, processing, and packing, is managed by advanced robotics and intelligent systems, ensuring year-round supply of fresh leafy greens while reducing labor needs.
Equinox Growers partnered with Generate Capital to fund this project and brought on board Arvesta brands Van der Hoeven and Hortiplan (Mobile Gully Lettuce system). This collaboration resulted in a greenhouse using roughly 90% less land and 87% less water than conventional farms, cutting CO2 emissions by an estimated 60% and reusing rainwater, a true leap in resource efficiency.
Adding to its impact, the off-take is secured by the world's largest open field grower, underlining the project's significance as a scalable solution for future food systems. By combining Dutch horticultural expertise with American ambition, Equinox Growers marks a major step forward in high-tech, local food production. Serving both environmental goals and growing consumer demand.
