Nice to meet you

Van der Hoeven Horticultural Projects. The future of horticulture technology.

The world is realizing that we need to preserve our planet and that it requires a much more sustainable approach on agriculture. Also, the world deserves access to healthy food. Therefore, we design, build and operate tailor made horticultural solutions for our customers, with a reduced footprint in natural resources, water, CO2 and pesticides. We continuously invest in R&D to strengthen our propositions towards our customers. This vision allows us to operate our business successfully for a better future.

The role: Energy & Sustainability Manager

The R&D and Sustainability department has the important task of ensuring that Van der Hoeven continues to lead the way in high-tech solutions in the areas of sustainability, digitization, climate control, (automated) cultivation systems and water treatment.

This is partly achieved by working together with external parties, both with industry and knowledge institutions. By cleverly combining forces and knowledge, innovations can be made on a diverse range of topics.

As Energy & Sustainability Engineer, you are closely involved in sales projects. You will give advice to customers about sustainable solutions relating to

  • indoor climate
  • energy
  • CO2 supply.

You will do this based on the latest sustainable and technical developments, in which both technical and financial feasibility of the proposed solutions play an important role.

You are at the basis of the concept design, whereby you substantiate design choices with calculations, carried out with existing, in-house developed models.
During the design process you communicate with various departments internally, with external parties and with clients. You will ensure proper reporting and handover.

Finally, you will also focus on determining the footprint of our turnkey greenhouses during construction and operation. So that we can advise our customers in ever greater detail towards a sustainable solution.

It is important that you are and remain up to date with developments in greenhouse concepts aimed at climate and energy, which means that you collaborate with internal R&D and design and also enter into discussions with suppliers. You also work a lot with your colleague in the department who works on the water issues of the greenhouse concept.

Your profile

  • Relevant university education
  • Technical background, for instance in mechanical engineering, physics or construction.
  • 0-4 years of working experience
  • Experience in horticulture is a preference
  • Structured yet pragmatic
  • Result-oriented and communicative
